The Collision of AGILE and MESSY: Supporting the Requirements of Authentic Learning
David A. Stubbs II, David Stubbs Design
Thursday, November 4
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time
Problem solvers, critical thinkers and future change agents require seamless, transparent sets of tools as they learn to analyze, question, elaborate, refine and evaluate their own ideas. Creating and Innovating can be quite MESSY. Systems have long permitted brave educators to clutter environments to a point of discomfort negatively affecting the health, safety and potential of its learners. We continue conditioned delivery of “kitchen cabinets” within classrooms without knowledge this antiquated harboring device is not suited for today’s broad set of resources. Sub-sequential responses simply removing all available cabinetry, shifting emphasis on wheels is placing an additional burden on space.
Learning Objective 1:
Understand antiquated mindsets are restricting us from moving forward even after the weak underbelly of educational fabric has been exposed.
Learning Objective 2:
Establish the mindshift indicating teachers having too much stuff to our obligation to create seamless designed solutions reinforcing AGILE learning.
Learning Objective 3:
Realize authentic space can be successfully achieved through critical collaboration between instruction and curriculum defining a precise range of tools.
Learning Objective 4:
Understand decluttering as a systematic approach to built environments, modifying historic “conditioned attitudes” of stuff embedded with agency and inclusion.
