Experienced primary and secondary teachers reflected on their sense of efficacy and the perceived difference in their efficacy since moving to an intentionally designed STEAM Center. Teachers expressed an increase in efficacy in three critical pedagogical practices and increased self-awareness of their presence in their indoor and outdoor classrooms. Teachers expressed the impact working in specialized spaces has on their efficacy when designing experiences that require critical thinking, promote learner creativity, and facilitate the engagement of capable learners at higher levels. Working in spaces purposefully designed for their content area reenergized the teachers and increased their presence with students.
