As we think about educational facilities beyond COVID-19, we need to look toward transformative solutions that can achieve the three “Wins”: High Performance (in buildings and students), Wellness, and Financial Return on Investment while maintaining a sharp focus on learning environments that elevate students’ experiences. This presentation will make the case that NOW is the time to evaluate and positively impact our learning facilities through a ‘Mastermove’. We’ll dive into energy auditing, high Performance Solutions, Wellness and Brain-based initiatives for learning environments, and regenerative design while weaving the ROI thread that impacts schools now and in the future.
Learning Objective 1:
Explain how Wellness can elevate student outcomes by improving IAQ, lighting and acoustics to those returning to the classroom.
Learning Objective 2:
Demonstrate how to successfully implement high performance design by evaluating the prescriptive measures recognized by ASHRAE, LEED and WELL.
Learning Objective 3:
Identify Life-Cycle Cost and ROI by distinguishing cost-effective wellness and sustainability features, and identifying funding under the CARES Act.
Learning Objective 4:
Analyze the synergy in wellness and sustainability through a case study at NeoCity Academy in Osceola County Schools.
