Drywall and Doorways: How Pedagogy Transforms, and is Transformed by, a School

Shelby County Public Schools (Kentucky) spent two years designing, planning, and building a new K-8 school which finally opened December 2019...three months before a global pandemic began. Hear the district's Digital Learning Coordinator share lessons learned on their (ongoing!) journey in transformative teaching and technology. During the session, you will be led through discussion and reflection on your own upcoming or current new building or renovation plan.
Learning Objective 1:
Analyze how construction of space creates pedagogical narratives.
Learning Objective 2:
Discuss how stakeholder knowledge and input is valuable, but stakeholder outcome is priceless.
Learning Objective 3:
Plan for intentional integration of technology - in particular, how the line is often blurred between virtual and real space.
Learning Objective 4:
Reflect on the ongoing cycle of facilities influencing learning best practices and vice versa.
